ICCA Launches New Resource for Association Meeting Planners

To help association executives plan international meetings, the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has launched a new “Association Portal” where they can network with other association professionals, search for vendors, browse ICCA statistics and access resources on meeting planning topics such as bidding, convention center contracts, hotel negotiations and social media, among others.

The goal of the portal, according to ICCA, is to connect association professionals and ICCA members — member companies that organize, transport and accommodate international meetings and events — in a “safe and trusted environment … where they are not approached with commercial intentions.”

“The ICCA board and my management team are all delighted to be able to launch this new service for associations in this celebratory, 50th anniversary year of ICCA’s existence,” ICCA CEO Martin Sirk said in a statement. “It marks an important new phase in our efforts to connect ICCA members and associations as part of a single, organic, business community, and to provide association executives with easy pathways to their peers, something that has previously been missing but much needed.”

Although it’s free, the ICCA Association Portal is password protected. To access it, planners must register. Those who qualify must plan international association meetings that rotate between at least three countries, attract at least 50 participants and are held with a certain frequency (ad hoc meetings do not qualify).
