The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has chosen Antalya, Turkey, as the site for its 53rd ICCA Congress, taking place in November 2014, it announced yesterday.
Antalya beat out several other finalists in the bidding competition, including Houston and Monterrey, Mexico.
"Each year the standard of bids for the ICCA Congress gets higher and higher, with exceptionally creative ideas and teamwork," said ICCA CEO Martin Sirk. "Passing on the bad news to the unsuccessful candidates is probably the worst part of my job, since I know how much passion, hard work and inspiration went into creating the bids of Houston, Texas and Monterrey, Mexico. I know that both destinations will continue to enjoy tremendous success in the international meetings market. As for Antalya and the whole Turkish team, I offer my congratulations on a fantastic effort."
ICCA's 50th Congress will be held this October in Leipzig, Germany. The annual event is expected to attract approximately 1,000 senior-level professionals from the meetings industry.
The 51st ICCA Congress will take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico in October 2012, and the 52nd ICCA Congress will be held in Shanghai, China in November 2013.
