IAEE Releases Updated Guide to Convention Center Contracts

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) has released a new version of its guide to convention center contracts, "Convention Center & Facilities Contracts/Leases: Making Sense of Your Agreements and Current Convention Wisdom," it announced this week.

Last published in 2008, the guide includes information about how convention centers determine the direct spending economic impact of an event; information and cautions on letters of commitment and letters of intent; information on cancellation policies; and a guide to terms, covenants, conditions, rules and regulations found in facility leases.

Originally written by attorney Mark Roysner, the 2011 edition was co-authored with Luke Puschnig, who is legal counsel for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

"Although the book is not intended to be a substitute for expert legal advice, Luke and I wrote this book to provide exhibition and event industry professionals with a useful foundation to easily comprehend the peculiarities of convention center and event facility leases," Roysner said.

Roysner and Puschnig are donating proceeds from the sale of "Convention Center & Facilities Contracts/Leases" to the Exhibition Industry Foundation.
