David DuBois, president and CEO of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), has been named chairman of the board of the Convention Industry Council (CIC), IAEE reported yesterday.

DuBois, whose chairmanship began Nov. 1, started his career in various sales positions at Sheraton Corp. He subsequently served as president and CEO of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), and as Chief Operating Officer at Meeting Professionals International (MPI). Prior to joining IAEE, he was president and CEO of the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau in Fort Worth, TX.

"Much like IAEE, the CIC has been focusing its efforts on emphasizing the worldwide impact of meetings, exhibitions, and events on the economy and overall marketplace," DuBois said in a statement. "I look forward to building on the CIC's progress, as well as continuing to develop its excellent education programs and member initiatives. We look forward to a very productive year in 2015."
