The International Association of Conference Centres (IACC) has presented its 2014 Global Distinguished Service Award to Steen Broby, project manager at the Comwell Group, a Copenhagen-based owner and operator of hotels and conference centers in Denmark and Sweden.
Established in 2009, IACC's annual Global Distinguished Service Award recognizes the contributions of one member who has made "a sustained commitment and contribution to IACC and the conference center industry globally and across chapters."
Broby -- who up until last year was regional director of three Comwell conference centres -- was chosen as this year's award recipient based on his longtime contributions to IACC, dating back to 1989, when he became CEO of what is now known as Comwell Klarskovgaard. Since then, he has led IACC's Danish and Scandinavian chapters; driven the formation and establishment of the first iteration of IACC Europe; and catalyzed efforts to bring the chapter together again in 2010.
"Steen is known as someone whose word is his commitment, and is a reliable and trusted friend of IACC within Europe and globally," IACC Global President Peter Stewart said in a statement. "It is a great pleasure to recognize Steen's contribution to IACC over many, many years by presenting him with IACC's Global Distinguished Service Award."
