James Mahon, director of public relations for the Americas chapter of the International Association of Conference Centres (IACC), died Sunday evening, IACC announced yesterday.
Mahon was hospitalized after a sudden illness shortly after Christmas. He subsequently was diagnosed with cancer. He passed in hospice care surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and his daughter, Kathleen.
"James will be sorely missed by everyone in the IACC family," IACC Americas President T.J. Fimmano said in a statement. "He was an incredible friend and colleague to so many of us. Each of us not only grieves at the passing of a tremendous individual, but also for the loss his family suffers."
As of Monday, services had not yet been announced.
