As part of a self-described effort to reinvent itself by growing its membership, value and education, the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA) has appointed Mike Pennington as executive vice president, it announced last month.
Pennington, who most recently was president of the Georgia Economic Developers Association, will manage HCEA’s strategic direction, goals and achievements.
“Mike brings an incredibly valuable set of skills, with 16 years of experience, including more than nine years of association and organizational management,” HCEA President Sue Huff, director of global conventions for Medtronic Inc., said in a statement. “With a host of exciting initiatives, HCEA is fortunate to have Mike strengthen our already committed team.”
As for the strategic changes Pennington will oversee, HCEA had the following to report:
“The HCEA team, board and committees are committed to ensuring the organization is relevant and dynamic in the midst of the changing industry. Members can expect increased learning and networking opportunities … The HCEA 2014 Annual Meeting, to be held June 21-24 in Cleveland's Global Center for Health Innovation, will have a fresh look and feel and will include education offerings of interest to young and seasoned professionals, small-to mid-size healthcare companies and sessions targeted to the needs of the supporting members. Coming into 2014, HCEA has nearly 100 new members, and it is HCEA's New Year's Resolution to offer more value to all members than ever before.”
