Singapore -- The William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, today celebrated the grand opening of the university's first international campus, a 12,000-square-foot facility here.
The satellite campus, named UNLV Singapore, represents the growing economic power of eastern Asia, and along with it the growing need for lodging by both business and leisure travelers.
More specifically, the campus will supply qualified applicants to the island-state's Las Vegas-style resort that is now under development as well as its existing hospitality industry.
The UNLV Singapore campus is housed on the 10th and 11th floors of the National Library of Singapore, a building comparable in prestige to the Library of Congress.
The school offers bachelor's degree programs in hotel administration and hospitality management. Students may also earn an executive master's degree in hospitality. Courses are taught by faculty from UNLV's main campus as well as visiting professors.
The Harrah College of Hotel Administration is the largest hotel college in the United States, with approximately 2,600 undergraduates and nearly 7,000 alumni.
