When they're working with hotels, meeting planners will soon have a new kind of sales professional to work with, according to the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI), which has announced the launch of a new certification for hospitality sales professionals.
Known as the Certified Hospitality Sales Executive (CHSE) certification, the new credential is open to sales professionals in the hospitality industry and demonstrates "achievement of the highest level of performance, abilities and expertise in the field," according to HSMAI.
"HSMAI has relaunched its sales certification program to enhance the credibility and value of individuals achieving certification," said Cindy Novotny, managing partner of Master Connection Associates, which developed the CHSE in partnership with HSMAI. "This new certification will open doors to those in the hospitality sales arena whether you are in hotels, restaurants, DMCs, transportation, venues or attractions to name a few. Customers today want to work with a subject matter expert."
According to HSMAI, individuals who achieve the CHSE will demonstrate "enhanced competencies" in sales prospecting and pitching.
"While the key to continued professional growth is to never stop learning, professional growth which leads to improved business return is truly the real winning combination," said HSMAI Executive Vice President Fran Brasseux. "We have partnered with Master Connection Associates to ensure we deliver that real winning combination in our new CHSE certification. We know sales professionals and their employers will gain on many levels from this new certification program."
In order to achieve the CHSE credential, candidates will have to complete three e-learning modules and pass an online exam. In addition, they'll have the opportunity to go through a professional assessment process to review their strengths and weaknesses in more than 100 different skill levels.
