The Atlanta-based Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA) has announced that it will sponsor a live discussion of marketing laws at its upcoming Healthcare Convention Marketing Summit, taking place Jan. 22, 2009, in Boston. The discussion, which will feature an expert panel of physicians, will focus on marketing rules and regulations that have the potential to impact healthcare convention marketing and exhibitions.
The HCEA panel discussion, titled "Straight Talk from Physicians and Medical Professionals — Live: An Expert Panel Discussion on Real Views of the Healthcare Exhibition," will take place during the HCEA Summit's opening session and will feature four physicians, as well as moderator Eric Allen, HCEA's executive vice president. Together, the panel will educate attendees on what factors into physicians' decisions to visit an exhibit hall, and to visit particular exhibits, as well as their reactions to marketing legislation that governs their interactions with exhibitors in certain destinations, such as Massachusetts and Washington, D.C.
In addition to the panel discussion, the HCEA Summit will feature a special session on the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) "Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals." Featuring Marjorie E. Powell, Esq., PhRMA's senior assistant general counsel, the session will give attendees an insider's view into the PhRMA Code, as well as a forum in which to ask questions about possible compliance scenarios.
