Mike Mooney has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer. He has served the tourism industry for more than 20 years and been with the Greater Phoenix CVB for ten. Mooney has served in many key roles, as the Director of Information Technology, Director of Finance & Administration, VP Finance & Administration, Sr. VP Finance & Operations, CFO and now as COO. Mooney acquired his BS in Business Administration from ASU and is a member of DMAI, Destination Marketing Association International.The Greater Phoenix CVB also announces that Maribel Velazquez will join the sales team as the new Regional Director in their Washington DC office. Velazquez’s role will be overseeing the daily operations of the Washington DC team along with the efforts of Mark Metcalfe and Andrea McFadden, as well as handling a portion of the Washington DC Citywide sales effort.Velazquez brings a wealth of CVB experience from prior roles in Puerto Rico, San Antonio, and most recently with the Denver, CVB in their Washington DC office. Velasquez’s first day with Phoenix will be January 14, 2008.
