Could you actually raise meeting attendance and revenue by letting convention delegates register for free? Although it might sound counterintuitive, the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) seems to think you can, as it has launched a new initiative that will allow some corporate travel buyers to attend its 2015 convention for "free."
Called the Corporate Travel Team Program, the new initiative allows unlimited complimentary buyer member registrations after five buyer members from the same company register at the standard rate.
Simply put: If five of your colleagues register for the GBTA Convention, you can register for free.
The program applies to any buyer-member personnel. If five of a company's corporate travel buyers register, therefore, they can bring with them meetings staff, HR professionals, or members of their risk and security teams.
Companies that leverage the Corporate Travel Team Program also receive one reserved table during the convention's main luncheon and one reserved meeting room for a day of team meetings.
"As business travel becomes increasingly global, travel management teams are now dispersed across the world," GBTA Executive Director and COO Michael W. McCormick said in a statement. "The GBTA Convention 2015 Corporate Travel Team Program provides a global meeting place for travel managers and an opportunity for them to bring their extended travel team to the largest annual gathering of business travel professionals for networking, industry-leading education, and top-notch speakers."
