Freeman Sells Fern Exposition & Event Services

Event marketing and production company Freeman is selling Fern Exposition & Event Services to Fern COO Aaron Bludworth, it announced this week.

Originally established more than 100 years ago as the George Fern Company, Fern is a national service contractor serving more than 1,000 expositions and events held annually throughout the United States and Canada. It was acquired by Freeman in June 2011 when the company purchased Wheelhouse Solutions, an experiential marketing services firm comprised of three companies: Fern, as well as Champion Exposition Services and Immersa Marketing.

"During the past year, Freeman's leadership team evaluated the two companies' strategic goals and advantages, and it became clear that it was in the best interest of both companies for Fern to continue operating as a standalone entity," said Freeman CEO Joe Popolo.

Despite its acquisition by Freeman, Fern has remained an independent brand for the last year. Under Bludworth's management, it will continue to partner with Freeman in several markets to ensure continuity with customers, vendors and employees.

"I am excited to represent Fern employees in this purchase and to continue providing our customers with outstanding service and solutions," Bludworth said.
