In advance of its 2009 MeetDifferent conference, Dallas-based Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has announced an educational program that's focused largely on economic themes and problem solving.
Taking place Feb. 7-10, 2009, in Atlanta, MeetDifferent 2009 will help meeting planners "find real solutions to real problems during this economic downturn," MPI said in a statement.
Formerly the Professional Education Conference – North America, MeetDifferent is an annual conference about innovative meeting design, alternative learning strategies and emergent technologies. By bringing industry leaders together for face-to-face networking and collaboration, the association says, meeting planners can more effectively solve the economic challenges facing their industry.
"The important role that face-to-face meetings and events plan in connecting people and driving business success is undeniable," MPI President and CEO Bruce MacMillan wrote in a recent Op-Ed letter. "The bringing together of individuals and organizations to share ideas, learn new skills, co-create solutions and craft new business initiatives are crucial to North American business success, even more so in a dynamic, faltering, global economy. In an increasingly faceless world, effective human connections are a powerful business weapon."
Among the economy-themed educational sessions currently planned for MeetDifferent 2009 are:
• Unconference – "The Solution Room" – A Place to Work Together With Your Peers to Uncover Solutions or Share Your Solutions With Others
• Recession Proof! How to Win BIG During Challenging Times
• This Isn't Your Daddy's Downturn: Insider's Look into the Economic Status of Our Industry
