First Americas Meetings and Events Exhibition Opens and Exceeds Expectations

The first Americas Meetings & Events Exhibition (AIBTM) officially opened yesterday at the Baltimore Convention Center and early signs from the show floor indicated it was exceeding everyone’s expectations. “We couldn’t be more pleased, we have done enough business in the first few hours that means I could actually go home right now!” says exhibitor Gary Musich, vice president, convention sales, Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority.

It is reported there are 11,000 pre-scheduled appointments between US and international hosted buyers and suppliers. With 789 exhibitors from 52 countries, the show has increased by 40 percent over the original floor plan.  There are approximately 3,872 registered participants and 1,533 buyers.

The Mayor of Baltimore, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake who kicked off the exhibition, toured the show floor and spoke about the positive economic impact of AIBTM on the city.
America Meetings Week includes a number of co-located events including the CIC Hall of Leaders Gala, PCMA Education Conference, Launch of MPI Value of Meetings research, several networking functions, and a U2 concert that more than 1,000 attendees won tickets for.
