Event management firm Experient is expanding its focus to include the fast-growing sports market, it announced last week.
Specifically, the company — a subsidiary of Maritz Travel — has hired Steve Schell as a strategic sales executive on its association and government sales team. Previously vice president of sales for the San Diego Sports Commission, prior to which he was vice president of sales and services at the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau, Schell will be focused exclusively on sports-based sales efforts, including sports conventions and meetings, athletic competitions and other sporting events.
“With a proven track record in clientele development, Steve is poised to take us successfully into the sports market,” Experient Vice President of Association Sales Barb Herod said in a statement. “He has the knowledge and energy to make a positive impact in this position, and we look forward to cultivating new business relationships.”
