Exhibition Industry Foundation Becomes CEIR Foundation

Effective Jan. 1, 2013, the Exhibition Industry Foundation (EIF) will become the CEIR Foundation, the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) announced yesterday.

EIF was formed in 2003 when CEIR and the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) merged their foundations for the purpose of funding and executing collaborative research, promotions and scholarships. Placing it in CEIR's care — under the direction of a newly formed Fundraising Council — will allow the foundation to more effective pursue a meaningful research agenda, the organizations agreed.

"CEIR will continue to produce the same exceptional high-level of research, data and insight that it is known for, and this structural change will create a fundraising arm to generate financial support for continued research and education opportunities," said CEIR Chairman Chris Brown. "With the change, there will be a direct organizational connection between CEIR and the Foundation which will directly facilitate a clean and clear focus on the business of generating research that benefits the exhibitions and event industry, and on the fundraising needed to make that work possible."

Doug Ducate will continue to serve as president and CEO of CEIR, and Cathy Breden as its executive director. David DuBois, meanwhile, will serve as executive director of the CEIR Foundation Council of Trustees, which will be tasked with generating funds in support of research and education. Serving on the 2013 Fundraising Council of Trustees are:

• David Audrain
• Terence Donnelly
• Kevin Johnstone
• Jim Kelley
• Brad Kent
• Richard Maples
• Casandra Matej
• Sue McCart
• Andrew Ortale
• John Patronski
• Jackie Russo
• Dennis Slater (ex-officio)
• Skip Cox (ex-officio)

According to CEIR, the newly structured foundation will announce details of an annual giving campaign early next year.
