EIBTM Reports Increased Attendance

Despite extreme weather conditions that stranded some travelers during this year's show, EIBTM 2010, which took place Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 in Barcelona, saw increases in trade visitors, total attendance and pre-scheduled appointments, according to unaudited attendance figures that were released yesterday by Reed Travel Exhibitions.

Those figures show that the 22nd annual EIBTM attracted 4,010 trade visitors, an increase of 5 percent over 2009; 8,395 total attendees, up 1 percent from last year; and hosted buyers who booked 55,300 pre-scheduled appointments, up 1.35 percent compared to a year ago.

Despite the increase in overall attendance — which included 3,125 exhibiting companies from more than 90 countries — the number of hosted buyers at this year's show was down due to severe weather in Northern Europe; although final numbers are still being tabulated, at least 200 hosted buyers were unable to attend the show.

EIBTM 2011 will take place Nov. 29 through Dec. 1, 2011, in Barcelona. For more information, visit www.eibtm.com.
