One month remains for entries to the EIBTM 2009 Meeting and Incentive Industry Awards, which this year is adding a new category and reviving an old one.
In recognition of the growing interest in and actions toward sustainability, EIBTM has debuted the Sustainable Initiative of the Year category. "EIBTM has been a major driver in raising the profile of sustainability within the industry through its BS8901 accreditation," said Mandy Torrens EIBTM’s exhibition director. “This new award reflects the number of sustainable initiative campaigns undertaken over the past twelve months.”
BS8901 is the standard for sustainable event management that was created by BSI British Standards in 2007. An update to the requirements for BS8901 accreditation will be released this fall.
Rejoining the line-up this year is Best Destination Marketing Campaign. The awards are open to all event creators and planners, and recognize the creativity, imagination, innovation and excellence across all types of events and marketing campaigns.

• Best Conference for less than 250 participants
• Best Conference for more than 250 participants
• Best Product Launch
• Best Incentive Program
• Sustainable Initiative of the Year
• Best Destination Marketing Campaign

. Winners will be announced at a VIP ceremony to take place at EIBTM in Barcelona on Dec. 2, 2009.
