Corporate Travel Show Talks Meeting Planners' Language

New York -- Corporate Travel World, the annual conference and trade show produced by Business Travel News, kicked-off today with a number of interesting sessions and many corporate travel buyers milling about. Topics covered at the event are close to the heart for many meeting planners.

For example, the issue of melding corporate transient and meeting purchasing when it comes to hotels was discussed in a session for buyers with large and mid-sized companies. Some were simply looking for best practices, others noted that hotels in major cities were opposed to this practice as they can get better rates from transient travel than they can when renting rooms to meeting attendees.

And one buyer, who questioned whether the process of consolidating purchasing is as efficient as many suggest, noted that while suppliers of technology and services to facilitate these consolidations say this is the wave of the industry’s future, he doesn’t see many planners headed in this direction.
