Copper Services Launches 'YouTube' for Meeting Content

Good meetings have good content — the finding and sharing of which has just become a little bit easier thanks to Copper Services, which last week announced the launch of Convey, a "business content catalog" that allows meeting planners and other business professionals to create and consume educational content.

Copper Services, a Denver-based provider of virtual meeting technology, describes Convey as the "YouTube of business information." Using it, event planners and others can download educational content — much of which is free — in the form of articles, white papers, reports, podcasts, presentations, webinars, e-books or videos. Simultaneously, they can post content from their own events, monetizing it, if they choose, by charging a fee to those who download it.

"Convey creates an opportunity for professionals to market their expertise, develop a following within the marketplace and generate revenue from their content," said Copper Services CEO Carolyn Bradfield. "There is a huge demand among speakers, consultants, training groups and associations to independently host their content and potentially monetize it. Individuals and organizations can earn money by offering informative and educational content for sale and letting Convey manage the payment process."

Although there are no fees to post content on Convey, Copper Services does charge a small percentage of revenue when content is sold. Additionally, it pre-screens all Convey content to ensure that it's focused on business, and is informative or educational.

"There are dozens of sites that mix business with consumer content; however, business professionals don't want to waste time sifting through videos of skateboarding dogs or promotional advertising to find expertise, ideas or continuing education that is relevant to them," Bradfield continued.

Convey users can search for content by topic, industry or keyword, and can either view it online or download it. Those who post content may offer it for free or for a fee. Those who charge can customize pricing, offer specialized discounts, develop refund policies and offer free content previews.
