The Convention Industry Council (CIC) has partnered with sustainable meeting consultancy Avila Government Services to offer the company's online sustainability software to its members, it announced last week.
Avila's tool, called the Sustainable Meeting Planning Program (SMMP), helps meeting planners navigate CIC's APEX/ASTM green meeting standards. Features include: a policy manual that guides planners through the steps of sustainable planning; checklists to assist planners with sustainable practices; scoring forms to help planners score their meetings and track sustainability improvement against the APEX/ASTM standards, as well as the ISO 20121 standard and GRI reporting format; reports to assist with management review and sustainability reporting; and online directories that list sustainable meeting planner individuals and organizations.
"Since CIC launched the APEX/ASTM Environmentally Sustainable Meeting Standards in 2012, we've watched the industry continue to curate and share resources on green meetings," CIC CEO Karen Kotowski said in a statement. "The Sustainable Meeting Planning Program is a prime example. One of the greatest benefits of the software is its scoring system, allowing a planner to better track and benchmark their meetings against the APEX/ASTM standards."
Through its partnership with CIC, Avila is offering CIC members a 50 percent discount on the Sustainable Meeting Planning Program. For more information, visit CIC's website.
