Convention Industry Council Names Fourth Quarter CMP Class

Two-hundred and twelve meeting professionals passed the fourth-quarter Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) exam, the Convention Industry Council (CIC) announced last week.

Established in 1985, the CMP program is designed to "increase the professionalism of meeting managers," "recognize and raise industry standards," and "increase the value of these practitioners to their employers," according to CIC, which said more than 14,000 meeting professionals in 51 countries and territories have earned the CMP credential since its inception.

Obtaining the CMP designation is a two-part process consisting of an application and a written examination. Additionally, applicants must have completed a minimum of 25 hours of industry-specific continuing education or a meeting management internship.

The next CMP exam window is scheduled for Jan. 23-Feb. 1, 2014. For more information, including a complete list of fourth-quarter CMPs, visit www.conventionindustry.org.
