Convention Industry Council Names 2016 Board of Directors

At its annual board meeting in November, the Convention Industry Council (CIC) named its board leadership for 2016, it announced this week.

Serving as board chair will be Bonnie Fedchock, ‎executive director of the National Association for Catering and Events (NACE). Other officers include: David DuBois, president and CEO of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), who will serve as immediate past chair, and Susan Robertson, executive vice president of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).

New and continuing on the board as members at large are:

• Martin Sirk, International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA)
• Vicki Hawarden, International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM)
• Kimberly Miles, American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA)
• Paul Van Deventer, Meeting Professionals International (MPI)

Finally, Janet Sperstad of Madison College has been named CMP Governance Commission Chair while Matthew J. DiSalvo of SER Exposition Services has been named CMP Governance Commission Vice Chair.

"I think it's vital that the organization continues to facilitate the exchange of insights and incubate ideas for new CIC initiatives and programs," DuBois said. "We made some major strides this year to that end, and I am confident that the new board will continue to build and expand upon those successes."

Added Fedchock, "The Convention Industry Council continues to be a leader and driving force for the growth and enhancement of the global meetings industry. The exceptional programs at CIC focus on research and education and provide standard setting training and certification. In the coming year, we will look to increase community engagement, as we continue to serve the many stakeholders that make up the important and diverse membership of our Council."
