Chauffered Transportation Goes Green

This year’s Limousine and Chauffeured Transportation Eastern Conference (LCT East) attracted 800 operators and industry professionals to the Mohegan Sun Resort on September 9 and 10. The third annual LCT Eastern Conference, produced in conjunction with the National Limousine Association (NLA), showcased the newest products and services for limousine owners and operators.

Among the vehicles spotlighted was the brand new 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid which was introduced at the event by Ford Fleet Limousine & Livery Vehicles. The Mercury Mariner, the industry's only available OEM-sponsored hybrid livery package, was unveiled on the exhibit floor on September 9. A technical overview of the car’s system and a description of its features and benefits were presented at a seminar held for the limousine owner/operator attendees.

“The industry is preparing to answer requests for environmentally friendly chauffeured transportation,” said Jeff Greene, President of the National Limousine Association. “The 2008 Mariner Hybrid is among livery’s responses to the ‘green’ demand.” Greene added, “The public should know that the limousine industry is paying attention to the marketplace. National Limousine Association members are increasingly able to provide alternative-fueled chauffeured transportation when asked.”
