CIC Selects New Management Co.; Power Remains CEO

McLean, Va. -- The Convention Industry Council (CIC) has appointed Management Options Inc. (MOI) as its new association management company, but the current staff of eight people, including chief executive Mary Power, will remain intact.

An umbrella organization representing 32 associations involved in the meetings industry, CIC is looking to MOI, of Washington, D.C., to help market its programs. They include the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program; and the Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX) initiative, which promotes voluntary adoption of industry best practices.

"With international offices, MOI will be able to assist us in our continued global expansion of the CMP program," Thomas Mobley Jr., CIC chairman and senior vice president, Convention Centers of Global-Spectrum, said Friday in announcing the selection.

"Their proven successes in product development will clearly be an asset as we continue the implementation phase of APEX," Mobley added.

Mobley also said that MOI will migrate the CMP program to a web-based platform, resulting in online application and registration for more than11,000 CMPs worldwide.

MOI assumes its management responsibilities on May 1. As of that date, CIC's new office and contact information will be the following: 1620 I Street, NW, 6th Floor, Washington, DC 20006; Phone: 202-293-6880; Fax: 202-463-8498.

CIC's website and email addresses will remain the same. The web address is www.conventionindustry.org.
