Two-hundred and fifty-three meeting professionals passed the fourth-quarter Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and CMP Healthcare subspecialty (CMP-HP) examinations, the Convention Industry Council (CIC) announced last month.
Established in 1985, the CMP program is designed to "increase the professionalism of meeting managers," "recognize and raise industry standards," and "increase the value of these practitioners to their employers," according to CIC, which launched the CMP-HP in 2014 to meet the unique needs of healthcare meeting planners.
To date, more than 14,000 meeting professionals in 51 countries and territories have earned the CMP and CMP-HP credentials.
Obtaining the CMP designation is a two-part process consisting of an application and a written examination. Additionally, applicants must have completed a minimum of 25 hours of industry-specific continuing education or a meeting management internship.
