Two-hundred and six meeting professionals passed the first-quarter Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) exam, the Convention Industry Council (CIC) announced yesterday.
Established in 1985, the CMP program is designed to "increase the professionalism of meeting managers," "recognize and raise industry standards," and "increase the value of these practitioners to their employers," according to CIC, which says more than 14,000 meeting professionals in 46 countries have earned the CMP credential since its inception.
Obtaining the CMP designation is a two-part process consisting of an application and a written examination. Additionally, applicants must have completed a minimum of 25 hours of industry-specific continuing education or a meeting management internship.
The next CMP exam is scheduled for May 9-18, 2013.
