Association Speaker Spotlight: 'The Wingman' Enthralls Groups With Talks on Collaboration and Trust

A decorated F-16 fighter pilot with 65 combat missions under his belt, today, Lt. Col. Rob "Waldo" Waldman, known as "The Wingman," is a high-energy leadership speaker. With 16 years of speaking experience before national associations and corporate groups like American Express, Merck and New York Life, Waldman helps organizations adapt to change, break performance barriers and build successful relationships.

A key message in his "Never Fly Solo" signature keynote is that you can't reach your highest potential alone. You need wingmen -- trusted partners -- to help you win when adversity strikes. Rather than share tactics and execution strategies like other military speakers, Waldman focuses on what he calls a "warrior with a heart" message. His compelling stories and personal lessons on overcoming adversity, performing under pressure, and servant-based leadership are relevant to organizations who seek to create a "One Team, One Mission" performance-focused culture of trust and collaboration.

It is ironic that Waldman took to the skies, as he grew up being immensely afraid of heights. However, that changed when his dad, a former Navy man-turned-airplane mechanic, took him to the airport to watch planes take off, igniting a passion for flying. Waldman broke through his fears and eventually earned his wings in the Air Force, where he learned to leverage the help of his wingmen to help him overcome challenges and become successful.

In addition to his military service, Waldman is an executive coach who also has real-world sales experience working in defense contracting sales. He has also worked in merger and acquisition consulting services for Fortune 1,000 companies.

Waldman is an inductee into the Professional Speakers Hall of Fame and is the founder of The Wingman Foundation, a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to build funds and awareness for veterans and their families in need. His book Never Fly Solo is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller.
