American Express and Delta Air Lines have agreed to a multiyear extension of their partnership, including the continuation of their co-branded credit card, the continuation of Delta as an American Express merchant, and the continuation of Delta Sky Club privileges for American Express Platinum Card and Delta Reserve Card members. Additionally, a previously announced annual limit on point transfers from American Express' Membership Rewards program to the Delta SkyMiles program will not be implemented.
"Delta's extended agreement with American Express not only means that we will continue to offer the industry-leading products and services customers have come to enjoy, but also that we will jointly develop innovative new programs that provide access to more of the things they value most," Glen Hauenstein, Delta's chief revenue officer, said in a statement.
Saving its partnership with Delta is a major win for American Express, which last year suffered a significant blow to its card member benefits when American Airlines and US Airways severed ties with the company.
"We're very pleased to extend our strategic partnership with Delta in a way that will deliver compelling value to our mutual customers and help to ensure that card members get more with membership," said Josh Silverman, president of consumer products and services at American Express.
