American Express Meetings & Events will be among those participating in the inaugural North American Meetings Industry Day (NAMID) this month, it announced yesterday.
A partnership between the Convention Industry Council (CIC) and the Meetings Mean Business (MMB) industry advocacy group, NAMID was announced in December. Taking place on April 16, it will bring together industry professionals from the United States, Canada, and Mexico to "showcase the substantial value of meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive travel, trade shows, and exhibitions," according to a news release explaining the initiative.
Its contribution, according to American Express Meetings & Events, will be "Educate to Elevate," a series of four online education and enrichment webinars designed to support meeting professionals' ongoing professional development. Complimentary and open to anyone, the free webinars will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST on April 16. Participants who have their Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation may receive one hour toward the CMP continuing education requirement for every webinar they complete.
The webinars on tap are:
• "Global Hotel Developments: The Impact of Thousands of New Meeting Destinations," which at 11:30 a.m. EST will reveal hotel building trends in primary and emerging markets.
• "Stand for Your Brand," which at 1 p.m. EST will offer tips for building a personal brand with which to advance your career.
• "Event Apps 101: Five Things to Consider When Shopping for Event Apps," which at 2:30 p.m. EST will present tips for comparing and implementing mobile event apps.
• "What You Don't Know Can Be Risky," which at 4 p.m. EST will focus on food and beverage costs, including how to reduce them.
Because space is limited to the first 100 attendees for each webinar, meeting professionals are encouraged to pre-register and to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early in order to secure their spot.
