ASAE Hosts First International Event

The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) hosted its first-ever international event last week: the Great Ideas in Association Management Conference, Asia-Pacific, an Asian extension of its popular Great Ideas conference.

The conference, which took place March 22-24 in Hong Kong, attracted 176 participants from 16 countries in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Along with education sessions focusing on various aspects of association management, the conference included sessions on international culture, such as Tai Chi, calligraphy, and how to do business in Hong Kong.

"The conference had a great mix of association professionals and industry partners from across the globe, which helped enriched our understanding of how our colleagues are utilizing different strategies and tactics inside their organizations. Attendees were able to network and gain a better understanding of the Asia-Pacific region growth, and how they could expand their efforts internationally," said ASAE President and CEO John H. Graham IV, who opened the event with an address that discussed the value of associations to the global society and the growth of associations in the Asia-Pacific region.

The event was sponsored by the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
