Its Leadership Committee has selected the nominees to serve on the ASAE and ASAE Foundation boards of directors for fiscal year 2013, which begins Sept. 1, 2012, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) announced yesterday.
"The Leadership Committee worked hard to ensure there was a balance of representation on the board, and we are thankful for their dedication in adding leaders that will help move the association profession forward as well as help raise awareness about the impact nonprofits have in our society," said ASAE Board Chair Peter O'Neil, executive director of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, who stressed the nominated slate's diversity in areas such as geography, gender, ethnicity, skill sets and areas of experience.
Officer nominees for the FY13 ASAE and ASAE Foundation boards of directors are:
• Chairman, ASAE Board: Joseph McGuire, President, Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (Washington, D.C.)
• Chairman-Elect, ASAE/Chairman, ASAE Foundation: Arlene Pietranton, Executive Director, American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (Rockville, Md.)
• Secretary-Treasurer: Susan K. Neely, President and CEO, American Beverage Association (Washington, D.C.)
Director nominees for the FY13 ASAE and ASAE Foundation boards of directors — serving three-year terms — are:
• Esther Aguilera, President and CEO, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Washington, D.C. (ASAE)
• Mark N. Dorsey, Executive Director and CEO, American Snowsports Education Association, Lakewood, Colo. (ASAE)
• Elena Gerstmann, Senior Director, Enterprise Planning and Development, IEEE, Piscataway, N.J. (ASAE and ASAE Foundation)
• Matthew Shay, President and CEO, National Retail Federation, Washington, D.C. (ASAE and ASAE Foundation)
• Richard B. Green, Vice President, Association Sales & Industry Relations, Marriott International Inc., Bethesda, Md. (ASAE and ASAE Foundation)
Pending approval by the ASAE membership, the new nominees will be officially installed and join continuing board members at the ASAE 2012 Annual Meeting & Exposition, taking place Aug. 11-14 in Dallas.
