Atlantic City, N.J. -- Construction has begun on a 786-room tower at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort here, with completion of the $250-million project expected in summer 2008.
At present, the Taj Mahal contains 1,250 rooms in its existing tower along with 140,000 square feet of exhibit and meeting space. The meeting space encompasses three ballrooms, the largest of which measures 30,000 square feet, and 22 meeting rooms. In addition, a 63,000-square-foot arena can seat more than 5,000 people and also serve as an exhibit hall.
Trump Entertainment Resorts, which owns the Taj Mahal, is also spending $110 million on renovations to its three properties in Atlantic City. Nearly all the guestrooms have been remodeled, and construction of a new retail and dining entrance corridor to the Taj Mahal is underway. The company's other two properties are Trump Plaza and Trump Marina.
