W Hotels Worldwide today announced plans to reinvigorate 11 of its properties across North America within the next 18 months. The renovations, which vary in scale by hotel, are slated to include cutting-edge updates to public spaces, new bars and restaurants, and stylish revamps to guestrooms. Starwood and its ownership groups, including Host Hotels & Resorts, Rockpoint Group, and Estein & Associates USA, have committed more than $100 million to the renovations at the following W Hotels:
W New York: The property’s state-of-the-art meeting rooms and Great Room received a facelift earlier this year. These updates are to be followed by the unveiling of a new Living Room bar in 2013.
W New York – Union Square: The hotel just underwent a renovation of all 270 guestrooms and corridors. Olives, the hotel’s popular Todd English restaurant, and nightclub Lilium (formerly Underbar), have also been revamped. The hotel’s Living Room lobby space is set to be updated early next year.
W New York - Times Square: The hotel's WOW and EWOW suites (W’s take on a traditional presidential suite), will each undergo full-scale renovations.
W Montreal: Later this year, the hotel will begin renovating all of its guest rooms with a colorful new palette that also pays tribute to the historical architecture of Montreal.
W Chicago – Lakeshore: This year, all 520 guestrooms will be renovated along with the hotel's public spaces, including the Living Room, Wave restaurant, Whiskey Sky rooftop bar, and the hotel's meeting space. Renovations are expected to wrap up in 2013.
W New Orleans – French Quarter: The hotel is currently undergoing complete renovations of all guest rooms. Renovations on the first floor debuted last month, and the rest of the hotel's rooms should be complete by mid-summer.
W Dallas: The property is redesigning its guest rooms with traditional Texas accents like lasso sculptures, rhinestone hardware, and armadillo skin embellishments.
W Seattle: The property recently unveiled a completely redesigned Living Room lobby and bar area as well as a new eatery Trace. The hotel will renovate all of its meeting rooms later this year.
W San Francisco: Earlier this year, the hotel unveiled an expanded Living Room lobby area and destination bar as well as the launch of Trace, a new restaurant. The new design drew inspiration from the fog and city grid of San Francisco.
W San Diego: The property's meeting rooms have been expanded and renovated, and a new restaurant, kelvin, will debut this month. The rooftop bar and lobby space have also been refreshed.
W Los Angeles - Westwood: Renovations of the property's Living Room, bar, and public spaces will take place this year, resulting in additional high-tech meeting rooms option and a signature chandelier inspired by city of LA.
