Starwood Launches 'Strategies for Success' Education Program

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has introduced a new continuing education course for travel professionals that's designed to teach them the company's best practices for growing business, increasing sales and improving customer satisfaction, it announced last week.

Called Strategies for Success, the course is the second module in Starwood's ProLearning program, an online training program designed to familiarize travel professionals with each of Starwood's nine brands while helping them develop their sales skills. Approximately 20 to 45 minutes long, each training module includes video, audio and other learning aids, such as hyperlinks to third-party resources.

"Each professional in a travel agency sells, and it is important for everyone to concentrate on how to increase sales and profits," said Chris Austin, Starwood's vice president of global customer partnerships, leisure and luxury sales. "With this module, we hope to help spark some sales ideas for our travel professional partners and in turn expand their business and ours."

According to Starwood, more than 5,000 travel professionals have already completed its first ProLearning module, Loyalty and Brands, qualifying them for special rates starting at $69 per night. A third module, Sharpen Your Sales Cycle, will be available soon.
