Small Luxury Hotels of the World, whose global portfolio of small independent properties stands at 526, continues to grow. Last year, the marketing consortium celebrated its 25th anniversary by adding 40 new members and unveiled a new business strategy along with new leadership. Getting 2016 off to a similar start, the organization just added four new hotels that would be great for incentives and retreats - three in Europe and one in Japan.

• The 14-room Muse Saint-Tropez in Ramatuelle, France, just south of the storied Riviera town of Saint-Tropez, has a private wine cellar, dedicated private massage areas and a pool surrounded by cabanas. The restaurant, M, specializes in local delicacies, and the hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to the beach, as well as custom-made bicycles and a dog sitter.

• Opening April 1 at the base of Mount Niseko Annupuri in Japan, the Kasara Niseko Village Townhouse has access to more than 2,000 acres of prime skiable terrain. The resort's eight exclusive townhouses are designed in the style of Japan's heritage merchant homes from the Edo period. Each townhouse accommodates up to six adults, or six adults and two children, and comes with a personal residence concierge. The property offers complimentary guided tours of the mountain and can arrange private ski or snowboarding lessons.

• The 51-room Riva Das Hotel Am Bodensee, on Germany's Lake Constance on the Swiss border, features two restaurants, a full-service spa and gym, and a rooftop pool. Nearby Flower island, reached by boat or pedestrian bridge, features a spectacular palace built for the Grand Duke of Baden set amidst manicured gardens.

• The 42-room Villa Franca in Positano, Italy, is on the Amalfi Coast. The former private home has been renovated into a boutique hotel managed by the same family. The property features two restaurants and a full-service spa. A variety of guided tours are offered by the hotel to show off the Amalfi coast's rich history and culture, and guests also can choose to view the surrounding area by hiring a boat complete with a personal skipper.

Continuing its expanding ways, SLH says it will be adding new destinations in 2016 to its portfolio, including Mozambique, northern Vietnam and Anguilla.
