Omni Hotels & Resorts has unveiled a new educational portal for meeting planners, it announced yesterday. Called Omni Meetings University (OMU), the new portal gives planners an inside look at the Omni brand and provides instruction on the latest meetings and technology trends. Eventually, offerings will be customized based on planner disciplines, such as corporate or association.
"Omni Meetings University is another example of how we collaborate with our partners and it demonstrates our commitment to their professional development," Tom Faust, vice president of sales for Omni Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement. "We've had great success with our other educational programming initiatives ... and want to continue to be able to equip planners with useful and timely information so they can make the best decisions to meet their business goals."
OMU was introduced last month at the first installment of Omni's "Be Collaborative" series, an annual professional development series offered to meeting planners at Omni properties across the nation. Planners who complete the OMU curriculum become a certified "Omni Meetings Specialist" and receive a "personalized FAM trip" at an Omni hotel or resort. New Omni Meeting Specialists are automatically upgraded to Platinum level status in Omni's Select Guest Loyalty Program and receive a 5 percent discount on their group's master account for the first meeting contracted after successful completion of the course. Finally, they also receive one clock hour of continuing education towards CMP certification or recertification from the Convention Industry Council (CIC).
