Hyatt, Marriott Respond to Japan Quake, Tsunami

In response to the 8.9-magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami that devastated Japan on Friday, both Marriott International and Hyatt Hotels Corp. have released statements supporting survivors and offering updates on their affected properties.

Neither Marriott, which operates nine hotels in Japan, nor Hyatt, which operates eight, have reported guest or employee injuries.

Although Marriott said there were no reports of "significant structural damage" at any of its hotels, Hyatt did not indicate the state or condition of its hotels.

For more information, including questions about reservations, Marriott guests should call 1-800-228-9290 and Hyatt guests 1-800-323-7249.
