Chicago -- Global Hyatt Corp. today announced the launch of a new upscale, full-service hotel chain, named Andaz, that is aimed at luxury travelers.
The first Andaz hotel is scheduled to open in September in London, a conversion of the Great Eastern Hotel. Hyatt plans to open several more Andaz hotels this year, including a hotel under construction on property Hyatt recently purchased in mid-town Manhattan.
Hyatt described the new brand as appealing to the personal style of guests and offering service that is "attentive but not pretentious, and without attitude."
Andaz hotels will also be environmentally friendly, according to Hyatt, featuring biodegradable products and energy efficiency as well as organic food and beverage.
Global Hyatt owns, manages or franchises more than 735 hotels in over 44 countries under several brands, including Hyatt, Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, and Hyatt Regency.
