Hard Rock Las Vegas Plans $750-Million Expansion

Las Vegas -- The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, at present a boutique hotel by Las Vegas standards, plans a $750-million expansion to increase the number of guest rooms by almost two-thirds, to 1,500 rooms, and more than quadruple the amount of indoor meeting space.

The expansion, announced yesterday, features a 550-room tower, 400-suite tower, and approximately 60,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The hotel now offers 12,000 square feet of meeting space in The Joint concert hall and a 6,000-square-foot ballroom.

The project also includes expansion of the Hard Rock's casino and pool, a new spa and health club, several new restaurants and bars, a new nightclub, and 30,000 square feet of new retail space. In addition, the hotel's existing suites and common areas will be renovated.

The project is scheduled to begin this fall and be completed mid-2009.

The Hard Rock Hotel is operated by Morgans Hotel Group. The company owns and operates 10 other upscale, boutique hotels combined in cities around the United States and in London.
