Montvale, N.J. — Some major improvements are under way at two popular Dolce International properties.
The Aspen Meadows Resort in Aspen, Colo., is getting a big injection of meeting space with the addition of a 23,000- square-foot conference facility. And Lakeway Inn, in Austin, Texas, is undergoing a $15 million overhaul.
In Aspen, where construction of the Doerr-Hosier Center is slated for completion in early 2007, plans for the new meeting space are ambitious.
"The intent of the structure is to provide more than meeting space," a spokeswoman said. "The design is meant to maximize human potential by stimulating mind, body and spirit; to spark collaboration and dynamic exchange of ideas and to facilitate progressive human interaction." She declined to elaborate, though, and higherranking property officials were unavailable.
The property features 98 guestrooms and 12 suites along with 15,000 square feet of meeting space.
Lakeway, where renovations are slated to be finished by next summer, is being repositioned as a luxury resort. The property is adding a 5,200-square-foot ballroom with glass exteriors that will have views of Lake Travis on all sides.
It also will include a 2,800-square-foot terrace that hangs over the lake. Three existing meeting rooms will be used to create the ballroom, converting the property's total meeting space from 20,500 square feet to 22,634.
The existing meeting space is being completely redecorated; some ceilings will even be lifted to put crown molding in place.
The guestroom count is being reduced from 239 to 168, but some old villas are being replaced by 70 newly built condominums, of several different sizes, that will be available on some dates as a portion of room blocks.
The guestroom tower is being done over with new hard and soft goods, including 32-inch plasma-screen TVs.
