The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Commences Guest Room Renovation

Just seven years old, the luxury casino resort is not content to sit on its laurels

Although it remains one of the newest resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas isn't resting on its laurels: Less than seven years after opening, it's commencing a massive project to renovate 2,895 of its 3,028 guest rooms, it announced this month.

 "Where The Cosmopolitan is at today is a reinvention of the property that opened its doors more than six years ago," said The Cosmopolitan President and CEO Bill McBeath. "The past two years have been a transformative process that has reinvigorated gaming, food and beverage, and will now include the complete redesign of our hotel rooms -- they are bold, innovative, and a direct reflection of our alluring brand."

 Located across both of the resort's two towers -- The Chelsea Tower and Boulevard Tower -- the renovated guest rooms will emphasize "modern design and luxurious comfort," according to The Cosmopolitan, which chose interior designs from two different design teams after an 18-month selection process. Whittled down from an initial list of 20 designers who were invited to bid the project, the two winning designers -- The Cosmopolitan's in-house design team and New York-based Virserius Studio -- each paired modern artwork with clean textiles, statement wall coverings, textured carpeting, improved lighting, and user-friendly technology.

 Virserius Studio spearheaded design of The Cosmopolitan's new Terrace Rooms and Reception Suites, the aesthetic of which will be "edgy yet sophisticated," according to the resort, which cites as highlights rooms' internationally-sourced artwork and custom damask wall coverings that double as bed canopies, not to mention Vegas-inspired jewel tones and gold accents throughout.

 Design for the resort's Wraparound Terrace Suites and City Rooms & Suites was spearheaded by The Cosmopolitan's in-house design team, which emulated the residential feel of an urban penthouse with neutral colors, bright accents, custom graffiti art, plush fabrics, and dramatic lighting.

 All of the rooms will include in-room iPads with which guests will be able to access a "virtual concierge" for booking restaurant and spa reservations, purchasing show tickets, ordering room service, scheduling wakeup calls, and adjusting in-room climate and lighting. Meeting and incentive groups will be able to utilize the iPads for sending targeted messages -- about event programming, for instance -- to attendees.

 Already underway, work on the new rooms is scheduled for completion in 2018.
