Carlson Hotels Worldwide, which owns brands such as Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Radisson and Regent, added 17 new properties to its global portfolio in June and July 2008, it recently announced. With the addition of the new properties, which are located across the world in North America, Central America, Europe, Africa and Asia, Carlson now boasts 995 hotels with 149,174 rooms—and an abundance of meeting space—in 74 countries.
"These openings reflect the continued worldwide growth of our brands as we approach the landmark of 1,000 properties that will be surpassed later this year," Carlson Hotels Worldwide President and CEO Jay Witzel said in a statement. "We are pleased that these hotels will serve new guests in new markets with the distinctive hospitality experiences of our brands."
Among the new hotels opened by Carlson this summer are 10 Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, all in the United States. Featuring indoor pools, fitness rooms, flat-screen televisions, complimentary wired and wireless Internet access, and meeting rooms that can hold up to 40 people, the hotels are located in Grand Forks, N.D.; Red Wing, Minn.; Sumter, S.C.; Rochester, N.Y.; Marinette, Wis.; Albany, Ga.; O'Fallon, Ill.; Fairburn, Ga.; Atlanta; and Savannah, Ga.
In addition to the 10 Country Inn & Suites By Carlson properties, Carlson opened three Radisson SAS hotels—in Switzerland, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates—and four Radisson hotels, in Panama, China, India and Mali.
