Benchmark and Gemstone Unveil New Company, Four Brands

Following the merger of Benchmark Hospitality International and Gemstone Hotels & Resorts in July, the collective company has debuted a name and four hospitality brands.

Benchmark, the newly revealed name for the combined hotel management company, includes over 70 hotels, resorts, and conference centers. The global hospitality company is based in the The Woodlands, TX, just outside of Houston, with regional offices in Park City, UT; Miami; New Brunswick, NJ; Seattle; and Tokyo.

The four new hospitality brands span hotels, resorts, and conference centers. They include: Benchmark Resorts & Hotels, the company's existing portfolio of hotels and and resorts in the U.S. and the Caribbean; the Gemstone Collection, which will encompass the properties of Benchmark's "Personal Luxury Resorts & Hotels" and Gemstone's "Gemstone Hotels & Resorts;" Benchmark Conference Centers, formerly introduced to the meetings market in 2014; and the Owner Advisory Group, which consists of real estate professionals and hospitality executives and is intended to help hotel owners increase the value of their property's operations and real estate investments.

The new company is led by Benchmark's Alex Cabañas, who serves as CEO. Benchmark's Greg Champion and Gemstone's Jeff McIntyre serve as co-presidents and co-COOs. Burt Cabañas, founder of Benchmark, serves as chairman.
