Now that the Lone Star State has twin 1,000-room hotels near the Austin Convention Center -- the year-old Fairmont Austin Hotel and the JW Marriott Austin -- city planners are turning their attention to the facility itself, and its 247,052 square feet of meeting space. A study from the University of Texas on the downtown convention district was presented to the city council on April 2, recommending several options for growing the center and the district. No plan or timeline is in place yet.
And that's not the only change in Austin. This hip and artsy Texas destination has plenty to offer for groups of all sizes.
