5 All-Inclusive Riviera Cancun Resorts for Meetings

A surge of development has brought more beachside event space to a spot now known as the Riviera Cancún.

A surge of development has taken place over the past several years south of Cancún, Mexico's Caribbean hot spot on the tip of the Yucatán Peninsula. That area, south of Cancún International Airport and down to the fishing village of Puerto Morelos and beyond, has become more commonly known as the Riviera Cancún - a gateway riviera, if you will, connecting the tourist resort town to the Riviera Maya. The area is blessed with beautiful beaches and quite a few resorts among them - including a growing number of all-inclusive gems with meeting space. Here are five that are well worth investigating.

Haven Riviera Cancún

A newcomer on the riviera scene, this tranquil, 333-room luxury resort debuted last summer. It sits on a secluded, 250-acre parcel of land that's populated by wildlife and is part of a national protected area. The VIP oceanfront rooms are called "Serenity Club" accommodations - with an exclusive check-in spot, butler service, swim-up suites and more. This is an adults-only resort, to maintain that tranquility.

This fall, the property will get a lot more serious about meetings: A 25,000-square-foot convention center is being built on-site, along with an additional 105 double-occupancy guest suites - specifically tailored to meet convention-group needs. Keeping the whole enterprise from being overly business-like, the new facility will have its own porte cochere and lobby; it will be a short walk from the rest of the resort, and will be slightly separated from the serenity closer to the ocean. A 14,500-square-foot, pillarless main ballroom will have soaring 22-foot ceilings and plenty of natural light.
