The Westin Book Cadillac hotel in downtown Detroit has received a AAA Four Diamond Award, making it one of just 15 Michigan properties — 10 of which are in southeast Michigan — to have received the prestigious distinction, Crain's Detroit Business reported last week.
"We're thrilled to have this award to validate what our travelers have already been telling us," Director of Sales Scott Stinebaugh told
Crain's. "There is a very specific criteria for this award, and we meet that."
According to AAA, just 3.6 percent of its 59,000 AAA Rated lodgings have received a AAA Four Diamond Award for 2011. The Book Cadillac's rating marks the third year in a row that a Detroit hotel has been added to the list. Last year, the MotorCity Casino Hotel was added, and two years ago the MGM Grand Detroit was added.
"It elevates the whole market when another property gets a Four Diamond Award," Stinebaugh said. "And we're glad to be in good company."
