The Grand Canyon State offers planners of all types of events year-round sunshine for rainproof outdoor gatherings and an array of meetings-friendly properties. A lineup of sparkling new venues will add to the state's existing appeal for groups.

Ground has been broken on the 199-room AC Hotel by Marriott in downtown Phoenix at Arizona Center. The property, with 3,400 square feet of meeting space, will open in 2021.

Phoenix's Talking Stick Resort Arena is on track to complete a $230 million renovation in time for the 2021 basketball season. The arena is home to the Phoenix Suns.

The Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, a short distance from the city's convention center, is in the process of revamping its 1,000 guest rooms, lobby and 77,000 square feet of meeting space.

Northeast of Phoenix, the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess - Arizona's largest AAA Five Diamond Resort - is close to completing an upgrade to its 458 standard guest rooms, 20 luxury suites and swimming pool. The JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort & Spa's multimillion-dollar renovation of its 453 guest rooms is nearing completion. The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa is renovating its 732 guest rooms and corridors, a project that should be finished by December. The 350-room Great Wolf Lodge Arizona resort in Scottsdale's Talking Stick Entertainment District opened in September with an 85,000-square-foot water park, a 27,000-square-foot entertainment center and 6,500 square feet of meeting space.
