W Opens New Hotel in Beijing

W Beijing Chang'an

W Hotels Worldwide has opened a new hotel in China's capital city, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced this month. Located on Chang'an Avenue, a major thoroughfare that's home to many of Beijing's most prominent buildings and monuments, including Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the headquarters of the Central Bank of China, W Beijing - Chang'an is W's 45th hotel worldwide and its second in mainland China.

"The opening of W Beijing - Chang'an is a milestone in the W brand's dramatic growth around the globe," Paul James, Starwood's global brand leader for W Hotels, St. Regis, and Luxury Collection, said in a statement. "Long on our shortlist of the world's most dynamic destinations, we are proud to bring W to Beijing, and the hotel will no doubt 'rock the empire' as we set a new scene in the capital for both our global jet-set guests and locals alike."

W Beijing - Chang'an has 349 guest rooms, a bar, a top-floor lounge, a full-service restaurant, nearly 5,000 square feet of meeting space, a spa, a fitness center, and a heated indoor pool.

"Starwood's growth in China has been nothing short of tremendous. In 1985, Starwood's legendary Sheraton brand first debuted in Beijing, kicking off the growth trajectory," said Qian Jin, president, Greater China, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. "Today, we're excited to offer a cutting-edge hotel brand to this vibrant market, and we are confident that W Beijing will raise the bar on stylish luxury accommodations in the heart of the city."
